NATO Phonetic Alphabet Translator
Convert text to its NATO phonetic alphabet equivalent, used to spell letters clearly in voice communication.
Spell a letter; do not translate its meaning
Type a Latin letter sequence to display its spelling words. AB becomes Alfa Bravo. The word BRAVO becomes Bravo Romeo Alfa Victor Oscar: encoding the spelling word itself is different from using Bravo to represent B. Spaces in your input separate words; punctuation and unsupported characters are shown unchanged.
The standard spellings Alfa and Juliett are deliberate. Use the A–Z table below as a complete lookup. This tool displays the ordinary names of digits; those are separate from the specialized pronunciations used in radiotelephony.
Keep examples separate from operating phraseology
N123AB produces November One Two Three Alfa Bravo as a character-spelling exercise. Aviation procedures can prescribe different number pronunciation, callsign use or abbreviations depending on the context. This browser output is not a complete clearance, callsign procedure or instruction for live operation.
ICAO documents number pronunciations including tree, fife and niner. Consult the relevant current procedure rather than adding those pronunciations to an arbitrary message automatically. Morse conveys character patterns; spelling words help communicate those characters by voice. They are related reference tools, not equivalent transmission formats.
