Build HELLO from five characters

H is ...., E is ., L is .-.., and O is ---. HELLO contains L twice, so its two middle patterns must be identical. Keep a space between the five complete character groups. Without those boundaries, the same continuous marks would not identify the word unambiguously.

Use the individual-character audio in the alphabet chart to check a pattern that seems unfamiliar, then play the complete word here. Listen for the gap after each character rather than count all the marks as one long sequence. The repeated L sound makes this a useful short message for checking consistency.

Write, decode and use the greeting

HELLO is an ordinary word, not a continuous prosign. It uses normal letter spacing. To send HELLO THERE, add a word gap after O and then encode THERE. The / in written output indicates that word gap; it is not another letter to be sounded.

Copy the pattern into the main decoder and confirm HELLO appears. If a message returns different letters, compare each group with the chart. Check both L groups first, then check that O has three dashes rather than the five dashes used for zero.

For a puzzle or written note, preserve the five letter groups even if you replace printed marks with beads or drawings. A clear starting point and consistent mark shapes make the message easier to transcribe. A photo of the design still needs manual reading; this site does not scan its symbols automatically.
